Arches National Park
Arches National Park has over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, the
world's largest concentration as well as many other unusual rock formations.
Arches is located just 5 miles north of Moab. Colossal sandstone fins, massive
balanced rocks, soaring pinnacles and spires dwarf visitors as they explore the
park's viewpoints and hiking trails. The park's rock formations delight
children as well as adults, with many easy trails providing opportunities for
kids to get out of the car and explore the arches up close. Hikers can choose
from a wide variety of trails, from short twenty minute walks leading right up
to many of the largest Arches in the park, to more adventurous hikes into
lesser seen areas. This National Park is a red, arid desert, punctuated with
oddly eroded sandstone forms such as fins, pinnacles, spires, balanced rocks,
and arches.

Delicate Arch: Delicate Arch, the quintessential
formation of Arches National Park, is a spectacular natural arch, and one of
the most photographed natural wonders of the world. This icon of the American
Southwest remains as one of the most rewarding hikes in the national park
system, due in part to the reward of seeing the massive span glow a fiery red
in the alpenglow of sunset. |

Balanced Rock: The size of three school
buses, Balanced Rock appears to be precariously perched on its pedestal. |

Park Avenue The Park Avenue Trail is one of the
first major attractions within Arches National Park. It is a one-mile trail
that follows the bottom of a canyon at the feet of some of the parks
gigantic, and well-known monoliths. |

Landscape Arch Landscape Arch is the largest arch on
the planet. Landscape is an awesome sight; the amazing width of the stone arch,
held in place by such a delicate, slender center. |
