Utah is a land known for its stunning landscapes and dramatic contrasts – from red rock spires that tower above the desert landscape in the south to snow-capped mountains with renowned ski resorts in the north.
Utah is also home to three famous rivers – the Colorado, Green, and the Yampa. These three rivers offer the most diverse rafting experiences you can find in a single state – from calm stretches of the longest undammed river in the southwest (the Green River) to the most exciting whitewater in the western United States (the Colorado River).
Our specially-designed family trips offer just the right dose of adventure that will strengthen family bonds and create lasting memories.
In addition to all the normal amenities provided on all SGRE trips, family trips include special kid-friendly menus and an extra guide to provide age appropriate activities each day to ensure you get to relax as well!
Moab’s proximity to world-class rivers is also unparalleled. Whether you have a day, a weekend, or a week or more; you’ll find that Moab is a great base for your trip.

The Yampa River through the Dinosaur National Monument has it all! As the last free-flowing river in the entire Colorado River drainage, the Yampa is incredibly wild in May and June. The Rocky Mountain spring run off creates big roaring rapids with an average descent of 12-14 feet per mile. The gradient at Teepee Rapid is an amazing 31 feet per mile!
Raft alongside 2000-foot high white canyon walls with black tiger-stripes; hike side canyons to prehistoric rock art and abandoned caves. The Yampa joins the Green River at Echo Park for a 180-degree swing around beautiful Steamboat Rock, and then continues through the canyons and Split Mountain Gorge.
Women-only retreats allow you to relax and reconnect with your inner self in the glorious desert southwest. Your female guides will show you the unique sights, sounds, and smells of canyon country and teach you natural and cultural history. Spend your days creating memories and your evenings enjoying the warm camaraderie of your fellow female travelers. Sound like fun?
The Green River offers the perfect family river trip and has something fun for all family members. The river runs hundreds of miles from the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming to it's confluence with the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park. Along it's lengths the Green River has fun whitewater, charming camp sites on sandy beaches, stunning geological features and ancient and recent western history. Plenty of historical figures have traversed the Green Rivers banks including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hiding from the law, to Major John Wesley Powell exploring and mapping the rivers course.River rafting offers quality time and experiences for strengthening family relationships. There is adventure time, quiet time, interaction and reflection time, and lots of time to play.
Canyon country begs to be explored by kayak, and if you come on our trip through Labyrinth Canyon you’ll see why. Spectacular buttes and mesas rise over 1,500 feet from the river; and the calm pace of the river lets you gracefully float through the spectacular desert scenery around you. Because this river isn’t very frequently traveled, you’ll have quiet evenings to enjoy the company of your companions and contemplate the expansive starry sky above.
