The Ultimate 10-Day River Rafting Experience:
Three Canyons, Two Rivers, One
National Park = ONE Great Adventure
The
multi-faceted "John Wesley Powell Adventure" combines magnificent
wonder, spectacular whitewater challenge and triumphant personal achievement.
It is the ideal balance of serenity, thrill, and fascination that will
transform your life.
The expedition
begins in serene
Labyrinth Canyon on the Green River with touring
kayaks, and then transitions to oarboats and the monumental whitewater of the
Colorado River in Cataract Canyon. The experience
culminates at Lake Powell with a breathtaking scenic flight over Canyonlands
National Park back to Moab. This is an unparalleled adventure vacation
experience.
This river
journey follows Major John Wesley Powell's historic and courageous journey on
the Green and Colorado Rivers in 1869. Major Powell was looking to map the previously
unexplored Green River from Wyoming to Mexico. Unlike Major Powell's journey we
bring many more amenities, guides who know where they're going, and much, much
better food! Click to learn
more about the history of the Green and Colorado Rivers.
The first five
days are in touring kayaks
on the upper section of the
Green River in Labyrinth Canyon. This part of the
Green River is renowned for its history and sheer canyon walls.
After the fifth
day you switch to rowboats and enter Canyonlands National Park through
Stillwater Canyon. On day 7 the Green River meets the Colorado River at the
"Confluence." Here is where the world famous whitewater starts. On day
10 you arrive at Lake Powell and your unforgettable river journey transitions to a
scenic flight over the canyon and river you just explored.
The Sheri Griffith Difference:
Sheri Griffith Expeditions
brings the experience of 37 years in the outdoor recreation industry to the
"John Wesley Powell
Adventure" river trip. Through out this time we've learned how to make
you feel comfortable and safe on the river. This knowledge has helped us create
comforts that many other outfitters can't provide. Through extensive training
and workshops, our company's experience has been built upon and passed down
throughout all of our 37 years in business. You will see our experience in the
quality of equipment, food, and staff on each trip.
Our guides are
professional, exceptional people with outstanding talents, who are eager to
share their knowledge, experience, and enjoyment of life in the outdoors. This
group of guides is by far the best on the river. They continually strive to
perfect their understanding of our wilderness and its secrets. This is their
way of life, and their passion is to share this adventurous way of life with
you.
"There is
one aspect of Sheri Griffith Expeditions that is constantly amazing. The
quality of the river guides is ALWAYS extraordinaire." Scott Harvey,
2006
