Family Goes to Camp: Expedition Style
Featured in "Parents
Magazine" & "AAA Today Magazine"
The Desolation
and Gray Canyons of the Green River offers the opportunity for the whole family
to go to "camp." This trip has exceptional bonding opportunities, fun
whitewater, enchanting camp sites on sandy beaches, stunning
geological features, ancient Native American as well as recent western history
~ and it all begins with a scenic flight to the launch site!
This stretch of
the Green River is 84 miles of river with 50+ class I-III rapids that start the
second day of the trip and build each day until the largest and best rapids on
the last day. These rapids are full of big rolling waves, not
technically difficult but exciting and great fun.
This moderate
river trip is delightful for every family member. We run this trip in both
oarboats and inflatable
kayaks. The Family Goes to
Camp trip illustrates some of the world's finest wilderness areas. In comfort, with great food, and some of the finest people you will ever meet.
River rafting
offers quality time and experiences for strengthening family relationships.
There is adventure time, quiet time, interaction and reflection time, and
lots of time to play. Hikes to outlaw cabins, water fights, and
building sandcastles are just some of the quality interaction on this trip.
The "Kids
Guide" takes children on structured, educational and fun outings where
everyone can interact with nature, and each other. Parents can join the
excursions or take time to enjoy a leisurely walk, relax next to the
river, or the visit with the other guests. Our Family-Only guides have special
family and educational training. They've developed great outdoor educational
and environmentally sensitive activities and games. These activities and games
incorporate camping, history, geology, wildlife, plant life, and of course
FUN.
The Green River
through Desolation and Gray Canyons is the only river canyons registered as a
National Historic Landmark. The Fremont Indians farmed, hunted and lived here
over 700 years ago and left ruins and ancient rock art. The most popular stop
is McPherson Cabin where Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and "The Wild Bunch," hidout. Time is set aside to explore these homes and legends.

The Sheri Griffith Difference:
Sheri Griffith Expeditions
brings the experience of 37 years in the outdoor recreation
industry to the "Family Goes
to Camp " river trip. Through out this time we've learned how to
make you feel comfortable and safe on the river. This knowledge has helped us
create comforts that many other outfitters can't provide.
We provide "A Touch Of Class" to every
trip. What does this mean? It's our mission to make you comfortable in the
outdoors. We provide enough civilization for almost anyone to be comfortable on
our river rafting trips. Great meals, sit-down dining, comfortable chairs
and professional service-oriented guides create a relaxing and comfortable camp
setting, complimenting the relaxed pace of the day's river rafting activities.
Our guides are truly what
make SGRE great. They are professional, exceptional people with outstanding
talents, who are eager to share their knowledge, experience, and enjoyment of
life in the outdoors. This group of guides is by far the best on the river.
They continually strive to perfect their understanding of our wilderness and
its secrets. This is their way of life, and their passion is to share this
adventurous way of life with you.
"There is
one aspect of Sheri Griffith Expeditions that is constantly amazing. The
quality of the river guides is ALWAYS extraordinaire." Scott Harvey
