The Raft and Resort Experience:
The 5 day /4 night Raft and Resort Adventure is a great trip If you're looking for a vacation that takes care of all the details. Spend one night in the luxurious Gonzo Inn located in downtown Moab and one night at the Red Cliffs lodge beside the mighty Colorado River. Activities include: exploring secret amphitheatres, arches, and Indian ruins, rafting and camping on the wild Westwater Canyon, and horseback trail rides through picturesque Castle Creek. !
Itinerary: Day 1-Sunset Hummer Tour: Welcome to Moab and the Gonzo Inn! After settling into your suite, enjoy dining at the Moab Brewery where you can enjoy Moab's only 'on-site' brewery and a varied menu including sandwiches, steaks, salads, burgers, daily specials, and kid's menu. Whether you're hungry or thirsty, enjoy the comfortable atmosphere.
End your first day with an exciting sunset Hummer tour. Moab's slickrock trails are a great place to see what Hummers can really do. This is easy fun for the whole family. This adventure features visits to secluded canyons, ancient rock art and breathtaking vistas!
Day 2-Hiking or Biking:Choose between either a Mountain Bike ride on one of Moab Famous slickrock trails or a Scenic guided tour viewing the magnificent canyon landscape.
Mountian Biking Option:
Klondike Bluffs is a 10-15 mile half day ride with moderate climbs and varied terrain. This ride offers bikers a good introduction to Moab's famous slickrock terrain. We'll also view dinosaur tracks along our route. At the half way point a short walk will take us into Arches National Park and to breathtaking views of the red bluffs and arches below. The ride back is mostly down hill with lots of dips and rolls. Lots of fun!
Guided Hike Option:
Our professional guides take you on a hike into some of the hidden wonders of the Colorado Plateau. Learn about the history, ecology, and environmental issues as you explore the Canyons of the southwest.
After Lunch, leisurely walk the Mill Creek footpath, experience the some of the famous art galleries that Moab has to offer.
At 5pm (MST) This evening meet at SGRE's office (2231 South Highway 191) for a trip orientation. Here you will learn what to expect and prepare for your river trip, receive your dry bags, sign the Assumption of Risk forms, and get a chance to ask any last questions.
After the orientation head out to Red Cliffs Lodge to check in. This resort has some of the best view overlooking the Colorado River.
Orientation:
This evening before the trip, we meet at 5 pm (MDT) at the Sheri Griffith Expeditions office in Moab for a trip orientation. Here you will meet one of your guides, learn what to expect and prepare for, receive your dry bags, sign release forms, and ask questions.

Day 3-Westwater CanyonWe pick you up at then drive to the Westwater Ranger Station on the Colorado River, load the boats and head down stream. Once on the Colorado River, you will receive a river orientation and meet your other guides and fellow guests. The first part of this adventure places you in the midst of stark and dramatic desert landscapes. You will get a chance to hike this morning to Native American inscriptions hidden along the Colorado River.
After the hike, you will get a chance to create your very own deli masterpiece for lunch. After lunch we head downstream where the red sandstone cliffs change to shiny black granite walls as the Colorado River plunges into the Black Granite Gorge. This is where your whitewater experience begins! After running a few of the "warm up" rapids, we pull over for camp on a secluded beach. This evening you will enjoy a generous, delicious dinner prepared fresh by your guides while you hear stories about the rapids you will challenge in the morning. After watching the sun slip over the canyon rims you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves downstream.
Day 4-The Whitewater:Wake this morning to fresh brewed coffee, a hearty breakfast and anticipation of the rapids downstream. After breakfast, the guides take time to teach you how to enjoy the big rapids safely. Then the fun really begins. Here are the incredible rapids you have been waiting for: Little Hummer, Funnel Falls, Last Chance Rapid, and of course, the infamous Skull Rapid. Lunch today is a fresh buffet on the riverbank. There will be a chance to swim and enjoy the river as you float out of Westwater Canyon. The ride back to Moab will be filled stories of the hole in 'Sock-It-To-Me' and the beautiful sunset the night before.
Day 5-Horseback Ride: Your day begins in the Red Cliffs Adventure lodge with the continental breakfast buffet. After a hearty breakfast, please meet in the lobby at 8:15 AM and check-in for your Horseback Trail Ride.
The adventure begins with an orientation at the Red Cliffs Ranch corrals. Wranglers match riders with a horse, tack is properly adjusted, and after a short time in the arena getting comfortable and learning basic riding techniques, the wranglers lead the team to the trailhead.
The trail winds up the Castle Creek Canyon where sensational Porcupine Rim towers above the riders as it stretches from the Colorado River to the La Sal mountains. Riders may recognize the area where several John Wayne western movies were filmed.
