The Women on Adventure Rafting Experience:
Highlighted in O Magazine as
One of Six Great All-Girl Getaways
Last years 5-day River Writing and Sculpting trip hosted by Page Lambert was such a huge success that this year she is offering a 6-day journey through beautiful Cataract Canyon. Another adventurous sojourn into nature! Connecting People with Nature, and Writers with Words© has been Pages passion for 11 years. Recipient of two Literary Fellowships from the Wyoming Arts Council, Page was described in "Inside/Outside Southwest Magazine" as one of the most notable women writers of the contemporary West. Author of fiction and nonfiction books, her poetry and essays appear in over 22 literary anthologies and she has facilitated over 150 workshops and retreats.
Joining Page as her special guest is esteemed Santa Clara Pueblo artist, Roxanne Swentzell. Roxannes sculptures demonstrate an astounding universality, speaking to people of all cultures. Already nationally acclaimed, she is quickly gaining world-wide recognition. Her daughter award-winning artist Rose Simpson, graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, is a rising star in the literary, visual, and performing arts world. If Roses graduate school schedule doesnt conflict, she might join the trip as Pages special guest. Last years trip sold out quickly, so book early!
This special
trip will explore writing and sculpting as complementary forms of creative
expression. Whether journaling or writing professionally, an established artist
or just beginning, the natural world unleashes powerful creative energy.
Personal writing and sculpting time is woven into the moments between floating
down the Colorado River, hiking at your leisure, or relaxing on shore.
Beginning with breakfast, seminar material (covering fiction, creative
nonfiction, memoir and poetry) is presented at the river's edge and continues
throughout the day, ending with readings under the stars. "Women rediscover an
important part of themselves in the natural world," Page says. "We move and
inspire each other in uniquely feminine ways."
Enjoy 6 days/ 5 nights on the famous Colorado River through Canyonlands National Park. All the comforts are included and the Sheri Griffith
Expeditions women guides are some of the best in the world: fun, talented,
professional and inspiring.
Spectacular
scenery, fantastic whitewater, a Writing and Sculpting Adventure in warm
and sunny southern Utah. Isolated from modern civilization, the red cliff walls
tower 2000 feet overhead, touching that flawless Western blue sky. Here the
famous Colorado River flows freely, undammed and untamed. The first three days
are spent floating on calm water, giving us time to explore the creative world
of writing and working with clay. Free-flowing writing facilitation is relaxed
but instructive, with time to write as the rafts float between canyon walls.
We'll stop and hike to scenic lookouts and through secret canyons. The evenings
and mornings allow time for journaling, sculpting, enjoying the natural beauty.
As we approach the rapids we'll be eager for some whitewater adventure.
Campsites on beautiful beaches along the riverbank are remote so we carry with
us all the comforts we'll need for our stay in the natural world. Every camp is
pristine with only a few footprints of birds, animals or other travelers who
pass this way.
